OREANDA-NEWS. July 18, 2008. Representatives of Rosenergoatom Concern, nuclear power plants of Russia, Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation, Roszdrav (the Federal Agency for Health Care and Social Development), Atomtrudresursy OJSC, VNIIAES OJSC, Atomenergoremont OJSC, the Federal Medical-Biological Agency took part in the meeting.

While opening the meeting, the acting deputy director general-the general inspector of Rosenergoatom Concern Igor Zvonov said that one of the key achievements in the field of labor protection in the nuclear power industry was the low onsite injury level: in Russia it is much lower than in most of the countries developing nuclear energy.

One more positive factor is the active introduction of new forms of prevention of onsite injuries and cultivation of safety culture among NPP personnel.

The head of the Labor and Personnel Protection Department of Rosenergoatom Concern Aleksey Ivanov summed up the results of the labor protection work in Jan-June 2008. He pointed out that no single accident was registered at the Russian NPPs during the period.

Special attention was paid to the problems of prevention of onsite injuries, labor protection certification of working places and provision of individual protection means.

The key task of Russia’s nuclear power industry by the end of this year is prevention of onsite injuries due to effective occupation safety and health management.
