In January-June, 2008, Vanino Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 3.446 million tonnes of cargo (+6.7%, year-on-year), the company informs. 47% of total throughput falls on export – 1.632.8 million tonnes of different cargo (-4.3%, year-on-year) including 809,500 tonnes of forest cargo (-22.8%), 112,800 tonnes of ferrous metal (+83.1%), 367,600 tonnes of non-ferrous metal (+28.8%), 302,200 tonnes of coal (+4.2%).

In the first half of 2008, transshipment of import cargo amounted to 736,500 tonnes (+45.8%) including 588,400 tonnes of alumina (+21.2%), 92,700 tonnes of clinker and oil coke.

In the reported period, transshipment of coastal trade cargo amounted to 185,000 tonnes (+12.5%) including 22,400 tonnes of coal (4-fold increase), 109,300 tonnes of containerized cargo (+1.1%). 891,200 tonnes of cargo were transported by Vanino-Kholmsk ferry line (+4.6%).

In January-June, 2008, the port handled 905 vessels including 388 ferries and 39,900 wagons.

In the 6-month period, the port’s container throughput totaled 15,117 TEU.

Vanino Commercial Seaport OJSC is the largest stevedoring company of Khabarovsk region. It provides handling and forwarding services. The state holds 55% of the company.

Port of Vanino is a transport hub located at the North-Western coast of Vanino Bay of Tatar Strait being the end point of Baikal-Amur Railway. Cargo is delivered via Vanino to the north-eastern regions of Russia, Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of APR.

The port’s infrastructure comprises 16 berths, open and covered warehousing facilities, specialized handling equipment. The port is capable of handling vessels with deadweight of up to 45,000 tonnes.
In 2007, the port handled 6.4 million tonnes of cargo.
