OREANDA-NEWS. On July 30, 2008 Ural Steel (a subsidiary of Metalloinvest Holding) successfully passed the preliminary audit of the quality managements system for compliance with requirements of Gazprom STO standard 9001-2006. The audit was conducted by the specialists of the certification company "Pronap", reported the press-centre of Ural Steel.

The experts organized consultations with the directors and specialists of Ural Steel’s structural units, examined the equipment, verified all necessary documentation and noticed the high level of the plants’ work. A number of digressions from the requirements of Gazprom STO 9001-2006 were noticed.

They should be eliminated before the final certification audit fixed for March 2009. If the audit is successfully passed, Ural Steel’s production will be certified for the conformity with the high level branch requirements.

Gazprom STO 9001-2006 is a standard elaborated by Gazprom for its suppliers. It is composed of the norms of the international standard 9000 but comprises a number of more restrictive requirements. Ural Steel is the Gazprom’s strategic supplier of rolled strip used for pipe production.

Ural Steel was one of the first metallurgical enterprises in Russia to begin QMS audit aimed at certifying compliance with requirements of Gazprom STO 9001-2006.
