OREANDA-NEWS. December 17, 2008. Belarusian Steel Works has successfully implemented an investment project to develop and produce steel cord for ultra large-size radial tyres. The project spanned 2007-2008. The investment in the modernization and purchase of new facilities is estimated at USD 1 million.

BMZ specialists developed 7 new designs of steel cord, six of them are already produced and the remaining one is at the test output stage. The new products are designed for Belshina Belarusian Tyre Works which has launched the production of ultra large-size tyres for quarry machines. These tyres will also be used by BelAZ and some foreign companies, including Komatsu and Caterpillar. About 2,000 ultra large-size radial tyres are to be produced in 2008. In line with the programme, when Belshina reaches its designed capacity in 2010, about 28,500 tyres will be manufactured.

Founded in 1984, Belarusian Steel Works is an export-oriented company delivering its products to almost 60 countries. Exports exceed 85% of the company’s output. BMZ manufactures cast sections, rolled sections, profiled iron, reinforcing bars, metal cord and other kinds of wire.
