RTS Released Stock Market Trading Results for April 2009

OREANDA-NEWS. On 13 May 2009 was announced, that in April 2009 the RTS Index went up by 20.77% to 832.87 points as of April 30, 2009 against 689.63 points as of March 31, 2009. Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was coming from growing prices for Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) (plus 23.51points), Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) (plus 19.41 points) and ordinary shares of OJSC "OC "Rosneft" (ROSN) (plus 18.93 points).

The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 increased by 23.49% to reach 636.18 points (515.17 points as of March 31, 2009). All the key sectors represented on the Russian stock market showed a positive trend. The major positive contributor was the electric utilities sector, with the corresponding index going up by 43.55%. The Consumer & Retail sector reported a significant gain – 42.81%. The slightest growth was registered in the telecom sector, with the RTS Index – Telecom increasing by 14.58%.

In April the US dollar lost 2.25% against the rouble to 33.25 RURles per US dollar (34.01 as of March 31, 2009).

In April 2009 the trading volume on RTS equaled 9.8 billion dollars (327.9 billion RURles*), including all types of trades.

On April 23, 2009 trading on the new equity market, RTS Standard, was launched. Trading volume of securities, admitted to trading on RTS Standard, totaled last month USD 289.89 million.

The top sellers of the month on the RTS Stock Market were Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with monthly turnover USD 131.9 million, Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with turnover of USD 117,3 followed by OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKN) – USD 37.4 million. These shares accounted for 26,67%, 23,71% and 7,55% respectively of total turnover.

The top gainers of the month on the RTS Stock Market were ordinary shares of OJSC "RTM" (RTMC) which experienced a 823.08% growth to reach USD 0.3, PJSC "NUTRINVESTHOLDING" (NTRI) ordinary shares that went up 300,0% to reach USD 4,0 and ordinary shares of JSC "WGC-3" (OGKC) that gained 183,33% to end up at USD 0,034 per share.

The top losers of the month were ordinary shares of Korshynov Mining Plant OAO (KOGK) which fell in price by 18.0% to reach USD 738.0; ordinary shares of OJSC Uralkali (URKA) which fell by 17.81% to reach USD 2.4 and ordinary shares of JSC "Polymetal" (PMTL) which shed 10.45% to USD 6.0.
