OREANDA-NEWS. September 03, 2009. Belarus will not take the credit commitments that it cannot meet, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko told media during his working trip to the Gomel oblast.

“We will stay away from what our economy cannot handle,” stressed the President. The head of state remarked that today key issues will have to be addressed. Keeping the Belarusian ruble stable is one of them.

Speaking about price growth, the President remarked there should not be any problems. “Contrariwise, in this situation we fear a price slump because it will affect producers. We are already cutting down prices to sell our products,” he said.

Alexander Lukashenko also remarked that the government and the National Bank will soon present him a report on obligations to the International Monetary Fund. “Then we will define what commitments we will take,” said the head of state.
