Third Part of Grapes Harvest May Remain Unsold in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. September 22, 2009. From all the volume of grapes harvest current year of 350 thousand tons 100-110 thousand tons will be impossible to sell, - the deputy director of agency " Moldova-faults " Nicolae Taran has declared during a round table.
It has noted that in the current to year the harvest is 100 thousand tons more, than in the past. At the same time quality of grapes higher - in grapes sugar in September has made 20-23 %. Also procurement prices of grapes of technical grades higher - 2,6 leis for kg for white grades and 3,2 leis for kg for red grades. Contrary to these favorable factors wine makers do not hurry to get grapes. Till now contracts with 120 companies for the total amount of 240 thousand tons of grapes are concluded, - has noted Nicolae Taran.
As he said, the way out of the current situation could be sale of about 25 thousand tons to Ukraine and 5 thousand tons to Romania, however export to these countries is carried out very slowly. If it is possible to export grapes to Ukraine and to Romania, 70-80 thousand tons of grapes will remain not requested. Nicolae Taran has noted, that wine makers hoped, that the part of problems will be solved simultaneously with renewal of export in bulk into Russian market, however, according to "Moldova-vin", till now only 50 thousand deciliters of wine are sold to Russia.
"We had promises of the head of " Rospotrebnadzor", that in the beginning of the season of harvesting Russia will buy 2-3 million deciliters of wine. It however has not happened - the Russian market remains blocked", - Nicolae Taran has said. According to "Moldova-vin", wine-making enterprises face chronic shortage of return funds. So, debts to banks make 1,3 billion leis, at the same time stocks of wines of 2006-2008 are 20 million deciliters. At the same time factories have not paid off yet on debts for the sum of 95 million leis for the grapes bought last years.
