OREANDA-NEWS. October 7, 2009. Freight One has undertaken a trans-Siberian project to convey coal from the Kansko-Achinsk basin to Ryazan hydroelectric power station (part of OGK-6).

An agreement has been signed between JSC Freight One and JSC Krasnoyarskkraiugol, a coal producer. Power-generating coal will be hauled from the Pereyaslovsk open-pit mine (Kansko-Achinsk basin) in the Krasnoyarsk region. With the assistance of Freight One, over the autumn-winter period the coal company plans to haul up to 70,000 tonnes a month of high-grade coal to the Ryazan station near Moscow. The route covers a total of 4,500 km.

With a rated capacity of 2,650 MW, Ryazan hydroelectric power station is one of Europe’s five largest power stations and a key supplier of thermal and electric energy in Russia’s Central Federal District. In the mid—1990s the plant’s first-stage boilers were first used for the industrial combustion of Kansko-Achinsk coal.
