OREANDA-NEWS. January 13, 2010. In the framework of the state visit of Sudanese delegation to Ukraine, bilateral meeting of the Minister for Animal Resources and Fisheries of the Republic of Sudan and the management of “NIBULON” was held.

At the invitation of Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, Yu.F.Melnik, the visit of the Sudanese delegation was led by Federal Minister for animal resources and fisheries of Sudan Dr. Faisal Hassan Ibrahim to Ukraine. The Sudanese delegation included - Dr. Nagi Espander Room (an expert on investment), Awad al-Mubarak Dzhyd (Adviser of the Minister), Dr. Rasha Bashir Ahmed Yusyf (Adviser of the Minister of Veterinary Medicine).

 The main purpose of their visit to Ukraine was conducting of negotiations and meetings with heads of state institutions of Ukraine and representatives of business circles of Ukraine, aimed at improving and solving critical issues of trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation between Ukraine and Sudan in the sphere of agriculture.

 The highlight during the visit of the Sudanese delegation to Ukraine was a bilateral meeting between the Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, Yu.F. Melnik, and Federal Minister of animal resources and fisheries of the Republic of Sudan ( December the 15th, 2009). During the meeting the sides discussed a wide range of issues, especially on the prospects of cooperation between Ukraine and Sudan in the agrarian sector. At present income of livestock breeding (animal husbandry) reaches 17% of total gross revenues, which is due to the export of Sudanese products to international markets. However, while maintaining performance on a level is not possible without ensuring the needs of Sudanese livestock fodder grain (corn), which is a topical issue for the industry generally and directly affects the food security of the state. Today the Sudanese government is taking steps to gradually reorient to import fodder corn, particularly from Ukraine.

Within the framework of the state visit of the Minister of Animal resources and Fisheries of the Republic of Sudan there was a meeting with General Director of “NIBULON”, Hero of Ukraine Oleksiy Vadaturskyy and Deputy General Director Andriy Vadaturskyy, during which they discussed long-term plans for supply of corn by our company in Sudan, which indicates the high level of confidence in our company by foreign partners.

 The Minister expressed his willingness to cooperate with “NIBULON” on a regular basis to purchase agricultural products from Ukraine. Soon Sudan plans to import 100 thousand tons of Ukrainian corn. It is planned that another 100 thousand tons will be imported in the near future. According to the Minister country is developing today, the population is increasing, and hence the need for high-quality agricultural feeding products as well as food crops is increasing daily. The same situation is in the neighboring countries of Sudan - Uganda, Congo, Chad, Ethiopia, Egypt. Today, there is an urgent need of food supply in Central African countries. By the way, our company, as the Ukrainian national grain trader, in recent years has been increasingly involved in addressing the issue of assistance to Africa. “NIBULON” was the only Ukrainian company that won the tender and received an order from the UN and now delivers grain to Africa, where hunger prevails. Overall, within the framework of this program more than 427,5 tons of milling wheat have been shipped to North Korea, Sudan, Palestine, Afghanistan, Ethiopia.

Deputy General Director A. O. Vadaturskyy noted during the meeting, that earlier the company won the tender to supply 5 thousand tons of wheat in Sudan in January 2010, within the framework of the program “World Food Rrogram”.

During the meeting they also discussed the transit possibility of Sudan. The Minister expressed his interest in the construction of port elevator in Sudan for transporting of agricultural products to other African countries and noted that he is ready to provide land to “NIBULON” for the construction of such facility in Sudan. Guests were interested in “NIBULON’s” investment project particularly they were impressed with its pace and scale of construction. The Minister noted that they will be pleased to work with a strong team of “NIBULON” professionals.

Also, a delegation of Central Africa looked over the transshipment terminal for grain and oilseeds of “NIBULON” in Mykolayiv. Particular attention of the Minister was focused on laboratory work. The Minister was pleased with the quality of agricultural products and took samples of corn to Sudan.
 Minister for Animal resources and Fisheries of the Republic of Sudan put forward an initiative to invite “NIBULON’s” management to Sudan for solving problems in February 2010. Partners are open to cooperation, hopes are centered on it.
“NIBULON” reaffirms the high level of confidence to the company and its prominent role in the international trade. Today, the company argues that Ukraine is the breadbasket of the world and can grow large amounts of high-quality agricultural products for the needs of a growing world population.
