OREANDA-NEWS. February 16, 2010. 45 billion rubles will be aimed for the construction of Novovoronezh NPP-2 in 2010. This, as an IA REGNUM News correspondent informs, on January 28 the General Director of the State Corporation Rosatom Sergei Kiriyenko told to Voronezh reporters.

Sergei Kiriyenko recalled that Novovoronezh NPP-2 is the first commercial Russian nuclear power plant. The first unit is planned to start physically by the end of 2012. According to him, today’s nuclear power plant construction in Novovoronezh operates 4,5 thousand people, in the near future the number of employees is planned to bring up to seven thousand people.

"The Nuclear Power Plant last year paid into the consolidated budget of more than 400 million rubles, taking into account the construction of Novovoronezh NPP-2 it will totally comprise about one billion rubles," — said Kiriyenko. He added that the contractors working on the construction of the nuclear power plant must register their branches in the Voronezh Region, so that the taxes are listed in the budget of the region.

Sergei Kiriyenko said that the amount of work has to be great. According to him, at the initial phase the contractors had lagged behind the plan, now the backlog is eliminated.

The head of Rosatom has paid special attention to security. "Nuclear Power Plant is located in close proximity to the multi-million-strong city, and security issues take precedence. I mean, in addition to our usual security measures, in consultation with the Governor, in particular the Institute of Nuclear Power Security held a large comprehensive study on the effect of a nuclear power plant on the environment and on human health ", — said Sergei Kiriyenko.
