OREANDA-NEWS. March 25, 2010. Ingosstrakh indemnified the client for two events related to forcing and theft of cash from ATMs. The insurant, one of the largest Russian banks, received more than 6.3 mln rubles.

The first event happened, according to the resolution to initiate criminal proceedings, in the night from October 9 to October 10, 2009, when unidentified persons illegally accessed the premises of an industrial enterprise in the Moscow Region. After having tied the guard up, they forced the ATM safe and stole the cash that was stored in it.

The second event happened in the night from January 8 to January 9, 2010. According to the resolution to initiate criminal proceedings, unidentified persons forced the entrance door and illegally accessed a post office in the Tula Region, where they stole cash belonging to the Bank from an ATM.

The damaged ATMs with the cash were insured by Ingosstrakh under a property insurance policy.

The Insured's total loss amount for these two events related to damage of ATMs and theft of cash from them amounted to over 6.3 mln rubles.

According to the Head of the Department for Settlement of Losses under Insurance Programs and Projects of Ingosstrakh OJSIC Aleksandr Manokhin, lately similar cases of damage of ATMs, theft of cash by forcing ATMs, robbery, assault and theft of cash from them are showing a constant growth trend. Forcing of ATMs and cash theft happen despite such security methods as centralized alarm systems connected to the control panel of the relevant security service, video surveillance systems or presence of guards.
