OREANDA-NEWS. May 26, 2010. In Istanbul Malaysia’s MEASAT and the Centre for International Relations & Estimates (Ministry of Communications & Information Technologies of Azerbaijan; MCIT) signed a long-term rent agreement on use of Malaysia’s orbital slot for Azerbaijani telecommunication satellite.

The MCIT reports that this agreement is a next move they have taken within the program aimed at developing space industry in Azerbaijan.

“In addition, the main agreement between US company Orbital Sciences Corporation (the producer of Azerbaijani satellite) and the Centre for International Relations & Estimates will be signed on 27 May,” the Ministry reported.

Azerbaijan plans to launch geostationary space telecommunication satellite in 2012.
