OREANDA-NEWS. June 15, 2010. Freight One’s Rostov branch hauled more than 5.75 million tons in the first five months of the year, an increase of 36% over the same period of last year.

In terms of rolling stock types, the increases in loading were as follows: boxcars 102%, mineral cars 93.5% and tanks 84%. This was due to the expansion of the branch’s client base, as well as increased haulage of construction materials, cement, petroleum products and fertilizers in Freight One cars.

For example, in the first 5 months of 2010 the company loaded nearly 24,500 cars with cement and 25,500 cars with inert construction materials, an increase of 7% over last year. The reason for the growth in this type of freight haulage was the stabilization of the construction market, the continued construction of Olympic facilities in Krasnodar Region, as well as increased exports of construction materials to Azerbaijan.

To ensure the availability of serviceable rolling stock, Freight One’s Rostov branch performed capital and depot repairs on 2100 cars during the period, nearly 15% more than in the first 5 months of 2009.
