OREANDA-NEWS. June 15, 2010. Freight One loaded more than 15,000 cars on the Moscow Railway in May, the highest figure recorded since the branch opened two years ago. The increase over the same period of last year was 32%, while Freight One’s share in the total loading on the Moscow Railway in May was 16%.

The branch loaded over 880,000 tons, including 225,000 tons of petroleum products, 220,000 tons of cement and 95,000 tons of iron ore.

Particularly noticeable was the increase in the loading of gondolas and cement cars. In particular, in May the branch hauled more than 5,000 gondolas with inert construction materials and metal ores.

There was a threefold increase in the haulage of cement and mineral powder on the Moscow Railway compared with the same period of the last year. The upward trend in the haulage is due not only to seasonal factors, but also a marked revival in construction activity in Moscow.

According to Alexander Donkin, Director of Freight One’s Moscow branch, one of the factors that contributed to the good results was the efficient teamwork shown by the crew. For example, in May the car turnover was accelerated by almost two days compared with the same period of the last year. Today the figure is 3.97 days.
