OREANDA-NEWS. July 01, 2010. Belarusian Railroads has struck a deal with Russia on a high-speed rail project to offer passengers fast journeys from Moscow to Brest via Minsk.

Under the deal with Russian Railways, the train service will run at speeds ranging from 160 to up to 200 kilometers per hour.
The two companies will set up a joint working group to equip the trains with special bogies holding variable gauge wheelsets.

They will also conduct a study to assess the amount of investment needed for project and its commercial feasibility, said the press office of Russian Railways on June 7.

The objective of the project is to increase the carriage of passengers heading to Western Europe, the press office said.

The two companies also agreed to exchange experience in development of a logistics infrastructure that supports rail services, according to the report.
