OREANDA-NEWS. July 09, 2010. Participants of the II environmental and technological expedition “Yamal-2010” organized by Gazprom VNIIGAZ in cooperation with the State hydrological institute and SibNATS left Salekhard and headed to Bovanenkovo. One of the main purposes of the expedition is to carry out environmental monitoring in the course of development of hydrocarbon fields of the Yamal peninsula and adjacent shelf of the Kara Sea.

The scientists will spend a month estimating the intensity of man-caused impact on the environment, updating the information on contemporary state of Yamal ecosystems, climate dynamics and provision of environmental safety of coastal area and facilities of the underwater crossing of Bovanenkovo-Ukhta trunk gas pipeline via Baydaratskaya Bay. The scientists’ work is aimed at development of rehabilitation methods for disturbed and polluted lands as well as soil purification from hydrocarbon contaminants by BIOROSS biopreparation based on new technology adjusted for Yamal conditions, and confirmation of last year results.
