OREANDA-NEWS. July 28, 2010. The agreement provides for an increase in the number of boxcars that Armavir Heavy Machinery Plant (AZTM) OJSC is making for Freight One from 370 to 670. The deliveries will be made during the third and fourth quarters of 2010.

The boxcars being purchased are larger than the basic model (158 cubic meters versus 138 cubic meters). "The company considers it a priority to use cars in a cost-effective manner, and higher capacity helps in this regard. The purchase will significantly enhance Freight One’s competitiveness in the transport market," said Freight One CEO Salman Babayev.

Updating its freight car fleet is one of Freight One’s strategic objectives. In 2009, the company purchased about 8 000 cars from Russian manufacturers. In 2010, the company plans to use its own funds to buy at least 15,000 cars of various types.
