OREANDA-NEWS. August 11, 2010. Eskom Нoldings Limited (ESKOM) and Joint Stock Company “Techsnabexport” (TENEX), have signed a long-term enriched uranium products (EUP) supply contract in Moscow. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Jacob Zuma, the President of the South African Republic and Dmitry Medvedev, the President of the Russian Federation, which fact highlights the important role that the cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy plays in the bilateral relations between the two countries. EUP deliveries under this contract are to cover a significant part of ESKOM operated nuclear power plant “Koeberg” requirements up till the end of the next decade. It is expected that the deliveries of EUP under the contract will comprise approximately 10% of the total foreign trade turnover between two countries during this period.

Both TENEX and ESKOM highly value their long lasting cooperation, with more than 15 years of history, and are planning to proceed to develop it in future in the same atmosphere of reliability and trust.

Joint Stock Company “Techsnabexport”, the subsidiary of the State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom”, is the global supplier of uranium conversion and enrichment services as well as EUP.

Eskom Holdings Limited is the state-owned energy generation, transmission and distribution company of the South Africa that supplies about 95% of electricity to South African consumers and, as part of its energy generating fleet, operates two power units of the nuclear power plant “Koeberg”.
