OREANDA-NEWS. August 13, 2010. The First Vice Prime Minister Andrey Kluyev believes that in order to get ready for the heating season 2010-2011 it is necessary to enhance coal extraction.
 
He stated so in the government meeting.
 
“The primary focus should be to provide the country with coal, first of all for the needs of thermal energy industry and households… coal extraction should be increased”, - Mr. Kluyev pointed out.
 
In this regard he instructed the Ministry of Coal Industry to ensure the proper condition of the material and technical base of the state coal mines.
 
At the same time the Fist Vice Prime Minister directed all the Ministries and Agencies to analyze their plans and schedules on preparation to the heating season and to take all the measures needed for their precise fulfillment.
 
According to the agency, in June the coal reserves in the stocks of thermal power stations increased by 23.78% comparing to May (from 615.3 thousand tons to 3,203.2 thousand).
 
Coal extraction decreased by 1.7% comparing to May and made 6.2 million tons.
 
Moreover, Ukraine has 19.6 billion cubic meters of gas available in the underground storages.
