OREANDA-NEWS. September 16, 2010. IV international exhibition of telecommunications, telemetry, information technologies and broadcasting equipment Turkmentel-2010 and the international Conference "Turkmenistan and World Information and Telecommunications Systems” are held at the Exhibition Centre in Ashgabat. The organizers of the international forum conducted in accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan are the Ministry of Communications and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.

The cabinet ministers, the heads of the Mejlis and diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited in Turkmenistan, numerous guests including representatives of foreign companies and journalists attended the opening ceremony.

The welcoming statement of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to participants of IV international exhibition Turkmentel-2010 and the international conference “Turkmenistan and World Information and Telecommunications Systems” was presented at the ceremony. The Turkmen leader noted, “Telecommunication systems shortened distances, brought people from different countries together and made them friends and played a profound role in accelerating the pace of economic growth of various countries. Currently, Turkmenistan spares no effort to make the Internet and modern communication technologies available to every citizen of Turkmenistan and attaches great importance to the intensive development of telecommunications technologies. In the epoch of new Revival, this work has been given new incentives to meet modern realities.”

The three-day exhibition is an opportunity for numerous visitors to get acquainted with state-of-the-art information and communications technologies, wireless communications, telecommunications, telemetry and measuring equipment, professional audio- and video-recording equipment, cable products and components in the pavilions at the Expo Centre.

Over 80 companies from 20 countries including Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Sweden, China, Turkey, Lithuania, Belarus and Kazakhstan are represented at the forum. Many of foreign companies that demonstrate their production including information technologies, telecommunications equipment and services at the exhibition in Ashgabat have been operating successfully on the international telecommunications market for many years and actively apply innovative technologies. Among these companies are world-known Nokia Siemens Networks, Alcatel-Lucent, EurasiaTrans B & PE Limited, Thales, Rohde & Schwarz, TeliaSonera, HUAWEI Technologies, Cal?k Enerji Telekomunikasyon, ZTE, BCTI, Karel, etc.

On the first day the expositions of the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan and its subdivisions and velayat departments aroused great interest among the visitors. The pavilions of the Turkmentelekom State Telecommunication Company, the Teleradiomerkezi State Company and the Altyn Asyr Cellular Communication Agency showcase Turkmenistan’s achievements in the communications industry, equipment and technologies applied in this sector of Turkmen economy, the range and quality of services rendered in the country. These pavilions arouse keen interest of foreign guests since the exhibition was opened. The visitors highly evaluated the achievements and accomplishments gained by Turkmen telecommunications specialists to achieve the goals of large-scale programmes for development of the telecommunications sector initiated by the Turkmen leader.

The exposition of the Altyn Asyr Cellular Communication Agency that has made substantial progress in adoption of advanced technologies including 3G mobile communication services was of particular interest.

The reforms initiated by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov open up vast opportunities in the communications sector for entrepreneurs. A number of Turkmen private firms and companies operating successfully on the telecommunication and computer technology market take part in the forum along with state agencies. The expositions vividly illustrate that the enabling environment has been created in Turkmenistan for private enterprises, which provide advanced telecommunications equipment, computer technologies and information services to local population.

The international conference "Turkmenistan and World Information and Telecommunications Systems” started its work in the conference hall of the Exhibition Centre in the afternoon. Upon concluding the opening ceremony, the heads of the communications departments of Turkmenistan and foreign countries as well as representatives of foreign companies and international organisations addressed ceremony participants and guests.

They noted that innovations were introduced actively in all spheres of life that was illustrated by the dynamic development of communication infrastructure. The Government launches large-scale programmes to meet the demand of local population in advanced communication technologies, modernize and construct digital telephone exchanges. Fibre-optical lines cross the country from north to south, from west to east; remote settlements throughout the country are covered by two cellular communications service providers; organisations, enterprises and educational institutions are supplied with information and communications technologies on a regular basis to meet modern requirements; Internet users rapidly increase in number in the country with every passing year.

On the first day of the international conference forum participants exchanged views and discussed the prospects for cooperation in developing the communication, broadcasting and information technology sectors.
