OREANDA-NEWS. December 24, 2010. A blood donation day was held at the LUKOIL headquarters in Moscow.

Medical technicians drew off blood from 226 employees of the Company headquarters and some subsidiaries. In total, about 100 liters of blood were drawn, which can be used as early as the next day to treat the patients of the Scientific Center for Hematology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.

The first blood donation campaign was launched in April of 2010. One hundred and fifty-two LUKOIL employees took part.

LUKOIL has given financial aid to the Scientific Center for Hematology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, one of the leading institutions in hematology, transfusions and intensive care, since 1997. The Center was established as the first blood transfusion institute in the world and is considered one of Russia’s major research institutions. Thousands of patients undergo medical and surgical treatment there annually.

LUKOIL regards blood donations as a form of corporate volunteer engagement in charitable programs. The campaign is a real contribution towards solving the urgent social problem. It also promotes the corporate culture and unites the Company’s employees. LUKOIL intends to carry on this tradition.
