OREANDA-NEWS. December 24, 2010. For the period beginning from 2010 Ingosstrakh registered about 10 insurants’ claims of indemnification against the insurance of members of self-regulating organizations (CRO) in the sphere of town-planning activities in the total amount of about 2,000,000 rubles.

The majority of the insured events occurred are related directly or indirectly to the third party property damage caused by water. For example, four events were caused by the results of roofing during the capital repair: due to the imperfections in construction operations technology available, apartments and premises located on upper floors were damaged by water. These events differ only in the water damage scope and the size of the damage caused respectively.

Currently, Ingosstrakh has settled 3 insured events and paid insurance indemnity in the total amount of 750,000 rubles. As per other events, at the present time the amount of damage caused to third parties is being adjusted and the insurer's clients are preparing required packages of documents.

Currently, about 500,000 rubles, the largest payment was effected in the town of Novosibirsk. The Elisar limited liability construction company carried out early works in excavation in a building area during which a water pipe line was damaged. As a result, the basement located in an adjacent building, where the stock warehouse was located, was damaged with water.

“As it was to be expected, all the insured events claimed for the year occurred during the performance of individual constructive activities, basically, repair and roofing, comments Dmitry Melekhin, head of the Professional and Financial Risks Insurance Department of Ingosstrakh. – During the first year of operation, the lack of the insured events in design activity, engineer surveys as well as building activities at large industrial facilities is connected mainly with a specific character of this type of insurance. The procedure of mass permits issue to self-regulating organizations came at the end of 2009 and beginning of 2010 and the coverage under insurance agreements begins on the date when an organization obtained a permit. I think that next year the situation with losses in the construction sphere may change dramatically and from our point of view, the amount of losses will increase considerably”.
