OREANDA-NEWS. January 21, 2011. During the New Year holidays, from December 29, 2010 to January 10, 2011 AVIANOVA, Russia’s low-cost airline provided a high regularity of flights and carried more than 50 000 passengers, two and a half times more compared to the same period in the previous year.

“Thousands of Russians travelled by air to celebrate the New Year and Christmas with their families and friends around the country taking advantage of our ultra low fares to be together for the holidays” – says Andrew Pyne, AVIANOVA CEO.

Long holidays and the high demand for air travel in the depth of winter in Russia is not only a wonderful tradition, but also a peak period for airlines and airports. Despite difficult weather conditions, AVIANOVA operated in normal mode during the holidays. In total, AVIANOVA operated 439 flights in this period. In addition to the flights of the original schedule AVIANOVA added 10 flights on the most popular directions from Moscow and St. Petersburg to accommodate passengers stranded by other carriers

”The chaos suffered by many other airlines and airports before the New Year holidays has created a wave of negativity towards air travel in general that we must do our best to counter. Together with Sheremetyevo airport we have shown that AVIANOVA provides not just only the lowest fares in Russia, but also good on-time performance and schedule reliability despite severe weather conditions. At a time when so-called full service carriers were cancelling hundreds of flights, we kept flying. And we thank our passengers for their loyalty and confidence” – says Andrew Pyne, AVIANOVA CEO.
