OREANDA-NEWS. March 5, 2011. National Company “KazMunayGas” announces that the information on the shutdown of JSC “Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant” (PPCP) published in a number of mass media is untrue.

The matter of shutting down PPCP has never considered and discussed in JSC NC “KazMunayGas”. Accordingly, a meeting on oil refining in JSC NC "KazMunayGas" with participation of the Managing Director for Oil Refining and Marketing D.Tiyessov, where the proposal to shut down PPCP after 2014 would be made, has not been held, and an expert commission on this matter has not been set up.

In compliance with Resolution No. 712 of the RoK Government dated 14 May 2009 “On Approval of the Comprehensive Plan to Develop the Refineries of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2009-2015” and Resolution No.1072 of the Government dated 18 October 2010 “On Approval of the Program for Development of the Oil and Gas Sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2010-2014”, JSC NC “KazMunayGas” will continue the activities for modernization and reconstruction of PPCP.

Under the Agreement signed between JSC NC "KazMunayGas" and Eni, the plans are to complete the preparation of the feasibility study for the PPCP modernization project and make transition to the stage of the design-and-estimate documentation development in 2011.
