OREANDA-NEWS. April 22, 2011. We are grateful to all those people whose efforts helped to make Domodedovo airport the best one in 2010. And also to those who voted within the Zvezda Travel.ru award, and the tens millions of passengers that make us to improve daily. We are not standing still. Last year Domodedovo airport set up two absolute records: more than 22 mln people were serviced, and more than 700 take-off and landing operations were performed during a single day.

We keep implementing the highest standards of service. Many of the novelties can be appreciated by the travelers themselves (mobile check in, free Wi-Fi, gadgets with the on-line displays). The major part of the novelties will be noticed by the professionals only, but such technologies as Multilateration systems and the advanced methods of communication of the flight area employees implemented in 2010 bring the service quality on the absolutely new level.

Last year the International Association of Travel Agents (IATA) assigned Domodedovo airport the PLATINUM status, and the independent agency Skytrax called it the best airport in the East Europe. For us is important that not only the professionals’ but plain passengers’ recognition, for it is them for whom thousands of the airport employees do their jobs every day. Yes, as many others, we encounter hardships but overcome them successfully and direct our efforts to the idea that millions of other people met their folks after long partings, came to the new cities and countries for unforgettable impressions or came to the cities of their childhood. That is why the recognition of our passengers is so important for the Domodedovo airport.

The airport also congratulates its partners that became the leaders in their nominations. Singapore Airlines was for the fourth time called the best on the routes to the South-East Asia and the Pacific Region. The Emirates was the winner of the Zvezda Travel.ru award for the sixth time at a row; the company makes flights to the Middle East and to Asia. Lufthansa also supported its last year’s victory confirming the leadership on the European routes. Transaero airline was for the fifth time the best among the charter carriers.

The unique customer award in the tourist industry has been granted for eight years already. From the moment of foundation the winners are determined by the results of the on-line polling. Among the Russian airports Domodedovo traditionally left behind the other candidates for the award in their nomination; among the foreign airports Singapore Changi Airport (Singapore) was called the best.

Domodedovo airport is the biggest one in Russia providing 43% of the total passenger traffic share in Moscow. More than 22,3 mln passengers were serviced in 2010. More than 70 airlines are the partners of the airport, both Russian, and foreign. Domodedovo airport was chosen for flights to Moscow by the members of such well-known air alliances as Star Alliance, oneworld and SkyTeam.
