OREANDA-NEWS. May 05, 2011. A branch meeting devoted to the topic of “Development of the Equipment for MOX-Fuel Production” was held at Mining and Chemical Combine (a branch of Rosatom State Corporation). The meeting purpose is to prepare the amendments into the engineering documents of the MOX-fuel production, which is now being created

The meeting was carried out under the chairmanship of Director of the Construction Program of Beloyarsk NPP-2 of Rosatom Engineering Activity Project Department Oleg Makarovich Sarayev. Specialists of Mining and Chemical Combine and representatives of nuclear branch enterprises took part in the meeting.

Oleg Makarovich expressed satisfaction with the rates and quality of the works performed at MCC according to the project of MOX-fuel:

“There is positive organization experience in creation of high technology facilities, and the construction of “dry” storage of spent nuclear fuel proves it. It provides assurance that our work on MOX-fuel will be continued with the same success. The production of uranium and plutonium fuel is a great deal for Russia. It can become our national endow. The technology of fast reactors was mastered in Rosatom, and in this sphere we are certainly at the fore-front. As for MOX-fuel, meant for these fast reactors, the absence of its production may be called a serious defect that was caused by the outage in this branch in the 90s of the last century. Now, thanks to the plant created at MCC, we have a chance to improve the situation”.
