OREANDA-NEWS. May 23, 2011.  The second day of the goods exposition of U.S. companies, which was held at the Exhibition Centre in Ashgabat, was quite diverse in a business aspect. The Turkmenistan-U.S. business forum and the talks between the members of the U.S. companies and the specialists of Turkmen ministries and departments and the private sector made the exhibition that showcased most promising areas of innovative development of Turkmen economy more constructive and businesslike.

The fact that the U.S. business delegation that had arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the large-scale economic presentation organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the US-Turkmenistan Business Council consisted not only of top managers of world’s leading companies but also the officials of the U.S. Government, including the Department of State and the Department of Commerce.

Participation of this representative delegation in the forum is convincing evidence for the continuously increasing interest of the government institutions and business circles of the United States in Turkmenistan, where ambitious projects of international significance are being implemented. The spectrum of this interest is broad: ranging from the oil and gas sector, geology, aircraft construction and machine building, commerce, industry, investments, transport, communications and information technologies to agriculture and food industry, science and education.

These and other direction of the activity were presented in the expositions in over 60 U.S. companies, including such well-known corporations as ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, Chevron, Schlumberger, Honeywell, General Electric, IBM, Microsoft, Cisco Systems and others their expositions. Also, high-powered machines and construction and agricultural equipment manufactured by Case, John Deer and Caterpillar, Sikorsky helicopters and Boeing aircrafts were displayed on the open-air areas.

Equipment, machinery and technologies are in the forefront of the structure of imports of Turkmenistan, and this fact was taken into account while organizing the exhibition. It is also of particular interest due to the fact that though production facilities of U.S. companies were hundreds of kilometres away from Turkmenistan, the exhibition provided the detailed and vivid information about facility and manufacturing processes management and service solutions.

It should be noted that Turkmen entrepreneurs, including those representing one of the dynamically developing sectors – the building industry, showed the keen interest in equipment and industrial implements of the American brands. The Identity Sings Company that produces chemical analysis technologies and equipment, including innovative blood test systems, identification of personality, etc. aroused the intense interest among professionals.

The Carrier Company that manufactures transport refrigeration units saw the high summer temperature and the transit potential of Turkmenistan as a splendid opportunity to expand its business in Turkmenistan, which is an important logistic centre of the region.

Foreign guests showed keen interest in goods, products and services which were in high demand on the Turkmen market and the ways to strengthen its position in the country. New ideas and projects came out from the joint discussions, the promising spheres and mechanisms fro collaboration were identified during the talks.

In general, the representatives of the U.S. business circles highly evaluated the results of the exhibition and business forum and reaffirmed that they stood ready to promote mutually beneficial economic cooperation that was regarded as long-term strategic partnership. Based on the existing fruitful experience and new prospects opened up through implementation of large-scale economic reforms in our country, the top managers of the U.S. companies viewed Turkmenistan as most effective resource for promoting their business. The guests noted that Turkmenistan had the tremendous potential to attract foreign investment to support the high tech sector, mining operations, transport infrastructure, and U.S. companies intend to collaborate actively in these activities.

In the present period, Turkmenistan takes consistent steps to address a complex of large-scale interrelated tasks on further systematic development of effective and competitive market economy and its integration in the global economy. Along with the crucial role of the internal development factors, foreign economic relations and organisation of important events in this sphere meet the goals of strategic economic diplomacy of Turkmenistan and implementation of the investment potential of the country are of particular importance in fulfilling these tasks.

Diplomas and certificates were presented to forum participants. They adopted the address to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and expressed deep gratitude to the Turkmen leader for providing an opportunity to hold fruitful business meetings on the Turkmen land and comprehensive support to bilateral relations.
