OREANDA-NEWS. July 04, 2011. Cargo throughput of SE "Odessa Commercial Sea Port" (OCSP) in the first half of 2011 rose by 3.5% over the same period a year earlier, to 13,440,000 tons, the company said.

Container traffic increased by 33% to 207,920 TEUs. Six-month volume of ore surged by 46.3% to 1,59 million tons, imports of citrus grew by 38.6% to 228,000 tons, handling of raw sugar in bulk rose by 10% to 480,000 tons.

OCSP posted net income for the reporting period of UAH 211 million, up 16.5% from a year earlier. The assessment to the country’s budget increased by 10% to UAH 220,2 million.

State-owned Odessa Commercial Sea Port is a largest port of the Black Sea-Azov basin. The port encompasses 14 ha, 9-km waterfront and 54 berths to accommodate 13meter draft vessels. Port of Odessa enables trade flow in the amount of over 14m tons of dry cargo and 14m tons of petroleum products a year. In 2010, cargo throughput of OCSP shrank by 11.8% year-over-year to 24,7 million tons, container traffic totaled 351,600 TEUs.
