OREANDA-NEWS. July 05, 2011. Moldova’s total foreign debt by the end of the first quarter of 2011 totaled USD 4,905.5 million, up USD 532.64 million or 12.2 percent year-to-year. For the first three months, the debt grew USD 115.2 million or 2.4 percent, according to the National Bank of Moldova (NBM).

By the end-2010, the total debt, according to the NBM’s refined data, amounted to USD 4,790.3 million. Moldova’s foreign national debt as of 31st of March 2011 totaled USD 1,136.97 million, up USD 20.79 million or 1.9 percent since the beginning of 2011. Compared to the same period last year, Moldova’s foreign national debt in January-March 2011 increased by USD 146.97 million or 14.8 percent.

Moldova’s foreign national debt as of 1st of January 2011, totaled USD 1,116.18 million, by the end of March last year - USD 990 million, In 2010, Moldova’s foreign national debt grew USD 342.5 million or by 44.3%, making up 18.9% of the country’s GDP.

The Finance Ministry projects that the country’s foreign national debt by the end of 2011 will total USD 1,204.6 million and will increase by about USD 88.4 million in comparison with the indicator as of the end of 2010.
