OREANDA-NEWS. July 05, 2011. Freight traffic passing throughput the port Kavkaz decreased by 20% in the first half of 2011 compared with the same period of 2010, to 3,32 million tons, the Port Authority said.

Exports of sulfur dropped by 1.2 times from 2010’s figures, to 882,350 tons, fuel oil volume rose by 9.17%, to 499,230 tons, fertilizer - increased 1.38 times, to 131,710 tons.

In the reporting period, the port handled 1,028 vessels, 21.8% down from H1, 2010.

Port of Kavkaz is situated between the Azov and the Russian Black Sea coast. The 4.5-m-deep harborage allows handling river boats and seagoing ships (offshore). The port specializes in handling dry bulk cargo (mineral fertilizer, concentrates of various ores, grain), general cargo, timber, and containers. In 2010, cargo throughput of Port of Kavkaz totaled 9.65 million tons.
