OREANDA-NEWS. July 08, 2011. According to data for the six months of 2011 in eighteen sea ports of Ukraine it was processed 56 million 319 thousand 275 tons of cargo that’s by 6.2% over the same period in 2010. Total volume of transit cargo in January-June increased by 26.6% and amounted to 20 million 626 thousand 800 tons.

Among leaders of the growth in cargo handling as a result of six months of 2011 are:

Yalta port - processed at 55.7% more goods than in January - June 2010;

Evpatoria port – an increase of 41.7%;

Port “Yuzhnyui” - an increase of 39%;

Reni port - an increase of 35,2;

Berdiansk port - an increase of 32,4;

Mykolaiv port - an increase of 20,6%;

Kerch port - an increase of 17,6;

Among the leaders to increase the level of transit cargo:

Kerch port - processed at 101.7% more goods than in January - June 2010;

Port “Yuzhnyui” – at 81,7% more

Bilgorod-Dnistrovskyi port- at 57,4% more

Berdiansk port – 55,4% more

Skadovsk port – 29,4% more

Mykolaiv port – 24,1% more

Odesa port – 23,4% more

Reni port – 19% more

Mariupol port – 9,2% more.

The main goods which are processed in the Ukrainian seaports are ore, grain, metals, coal, oil, petroleum products and containers.

The Ministry of Infrastructure supports initiatives ports, which attract new cargo flows. Now the ports are working on a program to increase rear areas and expansion of rail lines and loading platforms for trucks, which will increase the daily rate of processing of cars and improve the performance of both ports and Ukrzaliznytsya.
