OREANDA-NEWS. January 20, 2012. The introduction of water-coal technology during the transition the Ukrainian heat energy facilities from the expensive Russian gas to domestic coal will allow to decrease harmful emissions and provide the necessary environmental standards.

This was stated by the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko during the International Conference "Natural gas and Ukraine's energy future".

"We are able to partially substitute gas to coal that we will do now. We will use the latest technologies that are already proven in Europe and in China. We have conducted a preliminary investigation, negotiations and we will use the so-called water-coal technology which allows not having emissions into the atmosphere and ensuring that appropriate environmental standards," said the Minister.

Yuriy Boyko emphasized that for the introduction of new technologies for electricity generation at TPPs it should be developed programs attracting investments and development of cooperation between state and private capital in this field.
