OREANDA-NEWS. February 1, 2012. As per agreement made by ZAO Transmashholding and the State Administration of the Ukrainian Rail Roads, OOO PC NEVZ concluded contracts on delivery of 300 mainline freight AC/DC electrical locomotives for the period from 2012 through 2016.

The State Administration of the Ukrainian Rail Roads will be delivered 70 2ES5K AC locomotives and 230 2ES4K DC electric locomotives. Both of them are double-section locomotives.

The electrical locomotives will be produced by Novocherkassk Electrovozostroitelny Zavod (NEVZ) applying Ukrainian components and will come in modifications ensuring for their full integration with the Ukrainian railroad network (specifically, as to signaling and communication systems).

In 2012 28 2ЭС4К electrical locomotives will be built for the Ukraine. 2ЭС4К and 2ЭС5К locos are representing serial NEVZ products, manufacturing of which was mastered last years. Russian railroads operator, OAO Rossiyskiye Zheleznyye Dorogi, purchases large batches of these series locomotives. Based on 2ES5K one-section and three-section modifications of the locomotive, E5K and 3ES5K, respectively, were developed.

A small batch of 2ES5K electrical locomotives (15 units) was built under the Ukrainian order in 2007 – 2008; at present these locomotives are operated at Odessa Railroads.
