OREANDA-NEWS. March 02, 2012. OGX is the new sponsor for Brazilian driver Felipe Nasr, who is making his debut in category GP2 racing. The partnership is confirmed for the whole of the 2012 season.

The company is betting on the talent of Felipe Nasr, who will be racing for the DAMS team, winner of the last GP2 season. This category is considered to be the main breeding ground for motorsport, where young drivers are noticed and groomed for Formula 1. The company’s confidence in this driver is the result of a promising career so far: in only three full seasons in a number of categories, Felipe has already won two Championships.

The GP2 Series debut is a new challenge for the Brazilian. Felipe will be responsible for driving the 2011 champion team car and will also be jockeying for his position in the team with stable-mate Davide Valsecchi, an experienced driver who has been racing in GP2 since 2008. The first tests will take place on the 28th and 29th of February and March 1st in Jerez. Then on the 6th, 7th and 8thof March in Barcelona.

"I am delighted that we have managed to get everything agreed so that I can race in the GP2 this year. After Italy in 2009 and England in 2010 and 2011, it's now time for a change again and I’m going to France, thanks to the efforts of my family, my manager Steve Robertson, and, my newest sponsor, OGX, which has faith in my talent", says the pilot.

The Brazilian driver, who began his career in karting at the age of seven, made his professional debut at the end of 2008 in Formula BMW. By the following year, he had won his first title racing in that category. In 2010, he competed in the British F3 Championship, finishing in 5th place and, in 2011, won the series championship.

Also in motorsport, OGX sponsors Formula 1 driver Bruno Senna, who in 2012 is competing in his third season in Formula 1, having had stints in Formula 3 and in GP2.
