OREANDA-NEWS. May 17, 2012.  Chery exported a total of 17,412 vehicles in April, the Beijing Morning Post reported today. The amount, which is a new record for the Anhui-based manufacturer, represents respective growth rates of 40.1 percent and 39.1 percent from March and last April. Chery hopes that its exports this month will exceed 20,000 vehicles.

Last month, Chery held an event in Beijing commemorating the tenth anniversary of the manufacturer's international division. Representatives from over 300 Chery dealerships in 50 countries spanning five continents attended the event. Beginning in 2002, the manufacturer's exports have increased from 100,000 vehicles to over 150,000 vehicles last year. At the event, Chery announced that its overseas sales target of 171,000 vehicles this year. The manufacturer also stated its intent to break the 200,000 vehicle export barrier.
