OREANDA-NEWS. May 28, 2012. Such forecast was made on 22th of May by the participants of conference ”Energy saving and increasing energy efficiency in the Leningrad Region” - one of the key events of exposition “Energetika plus Elektrotechnika” which was held at Lenexpo.

Today energy saving is the most important instrument providing Russia's economic recovery. According to director of the Centre of energy saving and increasing energy efficiency in the Leningrad Region Alexander Guschinsky, the priority  objectives for now are decreasing energy consumption and re-equipment of state institutions of the Leningrad Region.  "By 2020, we are planning to decrease energy consumption to 40%", he said.  For this purpose, relevant inspections at plants, routine operations aimed at replacement of equipment, issue of technical passports for electrical equipment, as well as training of specialists, are held.  This year, the Centre is planning to inspect 192 state institutions.

"Thermal energy takes 55% of the total consumed energy", noted Pavel Borodinsky, the President of the Committee for tariffs and pricing policy of the Leningrad Region.  - Energy consumption in the houses of the secondary realty market increases energy consumption in new houses for more than a hundred times.  Our objective is to replace equipment in housing facilities and remove this problem".

One of the ways to increase energy efficiency is renewable energy sources, such as: wind, water and bio energy.  In Russia, however, these technologies are only started to develop.  State corporation "Rosatom" and the Russian wind industry make first steps in using renewable energy. "At present, not more than 3% of thermal energy is generated from renewable energy sources. By 2020, we are planning to increase it to 4.4%", said Vladimir Putsman, deputy President of the Committee for power complex and housing and utilities infrastructure of the Leningrad Region.
