OREANDA-NEWS. June 29, 2012. At the signing ceremony Lafarge Ciment Director General Louis de Sambucy noted that the partnership of the industrial company and the high school is aimed at joint searching of solutions to create steady, long-lasting, efficient and advantageous projects in the area of construction and infrastructure development.

The agreement stipulates the long-lasting cooperation between the company and the technical university in providing students with practice and jobs, organizing training courses for professors and research and practice conferences, etc. Ion Bostan, Chancellor of the Technical University, welcomed intentions of Lafarge Ciment to intensify cooperation with the high school.

According to him, partnership between the private sector and educational institutions corresponds to plans on modernization of the educational system of Moldova and their join efforts will help facilitate both: trainings of qualified scientists and engineers in particular and economic development of Moldova in general.

Lafarge Ciment Moldova is the major cement producer of Moldova, a member of Lafarge Group, France, a world leader in the building material market. Lafarge entered the market of Moldova in 1999 when purchased the cement plant of Rezina. Lafarge has invested in Lafarge Ciment Moldova over 40 mln. euros.

In 2011 the sale volume of Lafarge Ciment (Moldova) made up 616 mln leis, 20% up as compared with 2010. Last year the plant produced 59 thou. t. of cement, with its industrial capacities being 1.4 mln. t. a year.
