OREANDA-NEWS. July 24, 2012. The use of solid metal cord tires instead of combined technology tires opens new prospects for KAMAZ trucks and greatly improves their performance. The increased load on vehicles due to an increase in their tonnage, the cost of a ton-kilometer and the necessity to comply with environmental requirements make it impossible to use combined cord tires since they no longer meet modern operational standards, and above all they do not meet customers’ expectations.

All-metal cord tires are almost 11 kg lighter than tires used earlier, which will considerably reduce fuel consumption. Tests conducted at the Scientific and Technical Center of OJSC KAMAZ showed that a vehicle with solid metal cord tires "burns" by 10-15% less solar oil. Metal cord in carcasses and breakers makes new tires more durable than old ones. It enables to increase carrying capacity by 8% and speed ability to 120-140 km/h.

The structure of tires with all-metal cord extends its useful life to 200-250 km depending on conditions, 2 or 3 times more than combined tires feature. In addition, old-type rubber cannot be restored because of its fabrication method. Solid metal cord tires can be vulcanized twice to extend their life-cycle.

Nizhnekamskshina is a supplier of new tires for KAMAZ vehicles. The plant cooperates with one of the world`s leading manufacturers of all-metal cord tires – Continental.

Equipping its model range with new tires, KAMAZ took another important step to create a vehicle satisfying all modern requirements, with world-level performance.
