OREANDA-NEWS. November 01, 2012. The document aims to create an integrated competitive energy market, to attract investments in the energy sector and by joint efforts to ensure safety of the energy branch.

The Strategy is based on principles of the European integration and appraisals of the possible cooperation with Eastern partners of Moldova. It includes measures connected with implementation of the third energy package, removals of regulatory and institutional barriers for the development of the integrated energy market.

It stipulates that parties to the Energy Community will develop joint infrastructure projects and the Energy Community will integrate into pan-European energy markets. The document provides measures to regulate rates, modernize infrastructure of the energy sector, improve energy safety, develop renewable energy sources and protect consumers and environment. Projects and plans of actions to be implements in the framework of the Strategy are to be developed and approved till the end of 2013.

The Energy Strategy has been developed in line with the EU Energy 2020 strategy, identifying priorities for nearest years. First results of energy efficiency measures and use of alternative energy sources are expected to become visible in 2012-2020.
