OREANDA-NEWS. January 22, 2013. Power Machines OJSC has manufactured and successfully tested a 63 MW turbogenerator for Zhezkazganskaya TPP in Kazakhstan.

A contract for manufacturing and supply of the turbogenerator complete with an excitation system was signed with Kazakhmys Corporation PLC in June 2012. The equipment is to be supplied in Q4 2013.

The air-cooled turbogenerators with the capacity ranging from 63 to 350 MW manufactured by Power Machines are intended both for use with steam and gas turbines at new power plants and for replacement of the overage turbogenerators of the same series. Their design provides for very high degree of efficiency.

Besides the turbogenerator, Power Machines are also to supply a 50 MW steam turbine to Zhezkazganskaya TPP. The turbine is now being manufactured by Kaluga Turbine Works OJSC, part of Power Machines OJSC. The new turbine and generator will replace the old ones at the fifth power generating unit of the TPP.

Along with carrying out works for Zhezkazganskaya TPP Power Machines are also manufacturing power equipment for Karagandinskaya TPP – another power plant in Kazakhstan. The new turbine and generator will be installed at the second power generating unit of the plant. A contract for these works was signed with Kazakhmys Corporation PLC in 2012. By now, Power Machines have manufactured and tested a turbogenerator for Karagandinskaya TPP. The equipment is to be supplied in Q4 2013.

In 2010, EMAlliance PJSC, part of Power Machines, supplied a high-pressure drum weighing more than 70 tones for the boiler at Zhezkazganskaya TPP.
