OREANDA-NEWS. February 06, 2013. The biggest share of grain crops is exported by Ukraine to Eurounion. In 2012 the EU markets were supplied with 7.7 tons of grain to the tune of USD 1.9 billion. Also the leading positions at the amount of import of Ukrainian grain are still taken by Egypt and Saudi Arabia. In the current year Ukraine plans to enlarge markets of merchandising crops and increase export shares. This was informed by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhniuk.

“The previous year became extremely successful for Ukraine as it strengthened its positions on foreign markets. So, we could not only ensure food security within the country but were capable to confirm the status of a reliable partner. It proves the fact that national grain crops started being actively bought by European countries which 5 years before had been hesitant about the quality. In 2012 the EU bought 7.7 million tons of crops to the sum of 1.9 billion dollars and became the biggest importer of Ukrainian grain,” the Minister emphasized.

The second place at the amount of import of the national grain crops is taken by Egypt that bought 5.5 million grain to the tune of USD 1.4 billion last year. The third place – by Saudi Arabia with 1.9 million tons of crops exported to the sum of USD 509 million.

Concerning sunflower oil, Ukraine remains first in the world in terms of its trade. The share of our country on the global market totals 50%. In addition, Ukraine ensures almost 13% of world export of corn, ranking fourth. In terms of wheat export – taking the 8-th place, barley – the 4-th.
