OREANDA-NEWS. February 18, 2013. The Bank of East Asia (“BEA”) announces that its Head Office Building located at 10 Des Voeux Road Central has recently been awarded the “Class of Excellence” Energy Label by the Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence, reported the press-centre of BEA.

BEA has received this award in recognition of its achievements in energy efficiency in 2012. This is the second consecutive year that the Bank has won this award. Established by the Environmental Campaign Committee, the Energy Label scheme is designed to encourage Hong Kong businesses / organizations to adopt energy-saving measures within their establishments, and to recognise the energy saving efforts of these companies and organizations.

BEA integrates environmentally sound practices into its business operations. The Bank’s operations centre in Kwun Tong, BEA Tower, employs advanced energy saving technologies, which have earned it a rating of “Excellent” under the Hong Kong Building Environmental Assessment Method.

In 2012, the Bank participated in the World Wide Fund’s “Earth Hour 2012” initiative for the fourth consecutive year, turning off non-essential lighting in selected branches and offices for one hour. In addition, for the second consecutive year, BEA’s Head Office building achieved the 2% energy saving target in the Power Smart Contest organised by the Friends of the Earth Hong Kong.
