OREANDA-NEWS.  From March 11 till March 15 a team of international experts of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) led by Nikolay Vlasenko, the Director of the Scientific and Technical Center of NAEC Energoatom (Ukraine), worked at Rostov NPP. They worked in accordance with the “Work Plan of the WANO Moscow Center for 2013.”

The preliminary visit was conducted in frames of the corporate peer review of Rosenergoatom, which, as agreed, will be carried out at Rostov nuclear power plant from October 17 till November 1. In the course of the peer review, international experts of the WANO Moscow Center from Ukraine, Russia, Germany, as well as from centers in Atlanta (USA) and Tokyo (Japan) will assess the plant performance in 10 areas: organization and administration, operation, maintenance, engineering support, radiation safety, operating experience, water chemistry, training and qualification, fire protection, emergency preparedness. With this, a special attention will be paid to the safety culture, according to Nikolay Vlasenko.

During the preliminary visit the experts walked down the power unit, examined the general condition of the equipment, observed the personnel at work. “We are satisfied with both operating orderliness and cleanness,” Nikolay Vlasenko said. “Also, we indicated areas which need improvement, and gave recommendations basing on peer reviews at other NPPs. On the whole, we had a good impression of Rostov nuclear power plant.”
