OREANDA-NEWS. Since the introduction of improvements to its online and mobile check-in service on February 1, 2013, Latvian airline airBaltic has achieved doubling of customers who use self-service check-in.

Michael Grimme, Chief Commercial Officer of airBaltic: “We are delighted to achieve a situation where more than 50% of passengers use our self-service check-in; it is twice as many as just a month ago.”

A range of improvements have been introduced to self-service check-in available online at airBaltic.com and on mobile devices at airBaltic.mobi. In addition to better functionality, self-service check-in is now available for up to 1 hour before the flight departure, instead of the 2 hours previously. This allows better flexibility for passengers checking-in from their mobile devices, while on their way to the airport or at the airport. Self-service check-in opens at 12.00 the day before the flight. After completing self-service check-in, passengers travelling light with their hand baggage only, proceed directly to security screening; passengers with check-in baggage leave it at a designated baggage drop-off counter.

Customers with a preference to personal check-in are offered this service at the airport at a fee of EUR 10/LVL 7, if their ticket is purchased starting from February 1, 2013. Customers opting for check-in at the Business class counter, are offered Priority Check-in service, available for purchase at www.airBaltic.com. Personal check-in service at airBaltic airports is offered free of charge to Business Flex and Business class passengers, BalticMiles VIP card holders, passengers with children up to 2 years old, passengers requiring special service/medical assistance, and passengers travelling from airports, where self-service check-in is not available.
