OREANDA-NEWS. The World Bank (WB) will review its projects in Azerbaijan in April, the WB Baku office said.

It was reported that the WB missions on general economic topics, the social protection development project and the second education development project in Azerbaijan are expected to pay a visit in April.

WB chief economist on Azerbaijan Mona Prasad and heads of projects Anastasia Alexandrova and Mesker Mulatu will head up the missions.

"The missions are a review," the bank said. "Moreover, the parties will discuss further cooperation."
At present, the Azerbaijani government and WB are determining the areas of cooperation for the end period of the bank's strategy on the country. Its implementation period expires in mid-2014 and is currently preparing a new strategy.

As of January 1, 2013, Azerbaijan held talks with the World Bank within 56 projects. Loan agreements worth USD 3.122.3 billion were signed to finance them.

At present, around 36 projects worth USD 894.1 million have been implemented. Some 20 projects worth USD 2.228.2 billion are being implemented.

As of January 1, 2013, WB loans worth USD 1.714.1 billion which is 54.5 per cent of the total amount of borrowed loans were used. In 2012, Azerbaijan used USD 393.4 million of the allocated loans.

Besides these loans, the WB allocated 44 grants totalling USD  41.37 million to Azerbaijan in 1995-2012.
