OREANDA-NEWS. The United Metallurgical Company (CJSC OMK, Moscow) delivered over 1,700 tonnes of LSAW pipes, with diameters of 508 – 1,422 mm, wall thickness 10 – 42 mm, for construction of the Spartak stadium in Moscow.

The pipes were produced from S460 ML steel at the Vyksa Steel Works (a part of OMK) and comply with the DIN EN 10219-1 standard. The order’s distinctive feature is the specified length of the pipes (tolerance for the length was -0/+20 mm) and increased requirements to mechanical properties: requirement to notch toughness at test temperature -50°C and the Z35 requirement under the DIN EN 101164 standard.

The pipes will hold the stadium’s veranda (canopy). Its construction consists of two longitudinal girders installed along the football field and two cross girders that make a crossbar construction above the stadium. The span length is 219 and 180 m. According to the design, the stadium will make up a complex consisting of a football field and stands with capacity of 44,000 people. It will be a home arena for Moscow’s Spartak football club.

The United Metallurgical Company will continue delivering steel products for construction of sports facilities. Delivery of pipes for Moscow’s Spartak stadium is the first project in this line.
