OREANDA-NEWS. August 14, 2013. The 44th Liaison Officers’ Meeting of the Joint Ministerial Conference on Anti-Counterfeit Currency was convened in Beijing. Commissioner of Discipline Inspection Wang Huaqing attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

In the speech, he said that we should have a full awareness of the anti-counterfeit currency situation and the significance of such work, and focus on the work with a strong sense of responsibility and integrity. Efforts should be made to intensify the crackdown on crimes of note forgery, establish a quick-response information exchange mechanism on anti-counterfeit currency, continue the publicity campaign on anti-counterfeit currency, and safeguard the reputation and the circulation order of the RMB.

In the meeting, the proposal of establishing a liaison mechanism on anti-counterfeit currency in the banking sector was deliberated and passed. With the development of the financial industry, the joint-stock commercial banks and the Postal Savings Bank have established a nationwide business network, and played an important role in preventing and cutting off counterfeit currency. The liaison mechanism on anti-counterfeit currency in the banking sector, as an important complement to the Joint Ministerial Conference on Anti-Counterfeit Currency, will work under the guidance of the latter. The Banking Sector Liaison Officers’ Meeting on Anti-Counterfeit Currency is composed of the ICBC, ABC, BOC, CCB, BOCOM, 12 national joint-stock commercial banks and the Postal Savings Bank. The meetings will be summoned by the Director of the State Council Office for the Joint Ministerial Conference on Anti-Counterfeit Currency.

The establishment of the banking sector liaison mechanism on anti-counterfeit currency provides an exchange platform for the banks. It will help enhance the response to and execution for handling emergency in counterfeit currency, increase the transparency in the anti-counterfeit currency work and improve the anti-counterfeit currency regime in China.
