OREANDA-NEWS. August 27, 2013. According to results of 2013, bilateral trade between Moldova and Ukraine may exceed USD 1 billion – Sergey Pirozhkov. At the press conference, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova briefed to journalists that bilateral trade between Moldova and Ukraine grew 11.1% in the first 6 months of 2013 and made up USD 462.67 million.

Our country exported 22% less commodities to Ukraine at an amount of USD 46.77 million in the reporting period, Ukrainian export to Moldova growing 16.7% up to USD 415.9 million. As of April, 1, 2013, Ukrainian investment in Moldova made up USD 16.9 million, Moldovan investment in the economy of Ukraine being USD 34.6 million, 2.2 times as much.

According to the Ambassador, most Moldovan investments were made in the industry of Ukraine, its agriculture, construction, wholesale and retail, car trade, healthcare and social assistance field. Most money from our country was invested in the Ukrainian retail and wholesale, auto and household appliances service, engineering and business –to- business services.

 Sergei Pirozhkov called an amount of reciprocal investment stable and noted that “the Ukrainian investor got used to work with large facilities. Since there are no such large-scale projects in Moldova, the Moldovan market does not seem attractive for Ukrainian investors”.

He also briefed to journalists that T.B. Fruit, the concentrated juice- producing company is entering the market of Moldova to open two plants here. The investments are decalred to amount to EUR 25 million.
