OREANDA-NEWS. September 12, 2013. In June and July this year deflation in Moldova amounted to 0.5% and 1%, respectively. As InfoMarket was informed in the National Bureau of Statistics, the inflation rate in the last 12 months (from August 2012 to August 2013) made 3.7 % vs. 9.2 % from August 2011 to August 2012.

In August last year deflation made 0.1 % and the overall inflation in January-August amounted to 4.8%. According to NBS, deflation in August 2013 was due to a seasonal decline in food prices by 1.1 %, while prices of the non-food goods and tariffs for services increased by 0.3 %. According to official statistics, in August 2013 the prices for potatoes decreased by 14.4 %, fresh vegetables - by 11.9 %, melons and watermelons-by 48.9 % , eggplants - by 44.8 % , onions - 33.1% , carrot - by 30.9 % , pepper - by 20.2 % , tomatoes - by 12.8 % , garlic - by 20 %.

Prices for stone fruits decreased by 11.5 %, seed fruits - by 8.5%. At the same time , prices for cucumbers grew by 23.4 % , milk and dairy products - by 1.5 %, including fermented milk products- by 2.1% , cottage cheese – by 1.5 % , sour cream and cream - by 1.4 %. Prices for pork increased by 1.3%, eggs - by 0.9 %.

The prices of clothing grew by 0.3 %, including children's jackets, sweaters, shirts and blouses-2.1 %, trousers and tracksuits – 1.6 %. The cost of children's footwear increased by 1.9%. The prices for firewood, pens and other stationery products grew by 1.6 %. At the same time, in August, the price of coal has declined by 1.6 %, bathing suits - by 1.3 %, men's and women's sandals - by 0.6 %.

In August, the cost of average monthly tariffs for international rail transport services increased by 4.8%, potable water provision- by 1.8%, kindergarten and nursery services - by 1.3 %, personal care services - by 1.2 %.
