OREANDA-NEWS. November 05, 2013. EVP Luan Jun met with the Brazilian congressional delegation at the company’s headquarters. Two sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral cooperation on a win-win basis in the electric power field.

Luan Jun, on behalf of the company’s Chairman Liu Zhenya, expressed his warm welcome to the delegation and sincerely hoped that the congressmen would support SGCC's business in Brazil. He pointed out that China and Brazil were both large developing countries, as well as important members of the BRIC. Strengthening the cooperation in the electricity field would be conducive to consolidating and developing the bilateral strategic partnership. The two countries have certain similarities in the energy resources: the load centers are over 2000 km away from the energy bases and long-distance, high-capacity and low-loss transmission channels are in urgent need to guarantee the power delivery to the load centers to support the economic and social development.

Luan Jun hoped that the congressmen could pay attention to and support SGCC’s long-term operations in Brazil, provide policy protection for foreign investment into the Brazilian power industry and maintain stable regulatory policy and good business environment. SGCC would share the fruits of UHV development with its Brazilian counterparts to jointly promote the UHV grid construction in Brazil.

Osmar, the head of the delegation and the President of Parliamentary Group Brazil / China, said that Brazil would cooperate more with China in the energy sector. He believed that SGCC had enough technical and financial capacities to support Brazil’s electricity industry. He hoped SGCC could participate in more projects of Brazil.

Leaders of SGCC’s Department of International Cooperation, Department of Science and Technology and the State Grid International Development Co., Ltd attended the meeting.
